If you do not have an electronic ID - “DNI electrónico":
1. Enter the Real Casa de la Moneda y Timbre website.
2. Select “Configuración previa” (Previous setup)
3. Download the software corresponding to the operating system you have on the computer on which you wish to install your certificate.
4. Once you have completed the previous setup, go back to the first page and choose “Solicitud vía internet” (Online request).
5. Fill in the required details (DNI/NIF, surname and email), accept the conditions and send the request. An email with a code will immediately be sent to the email address you entered.
6. The last thing to do is to make an appointment at one of the offices empowered to verify your identity.
7. Once you have completed the procedure at the office of your choice, in the same computer on which the request was made, download the software required for the certificate and the Autofirma signature software.
8. Enter your DNI/NIE, your last name and the request code specified in the email you will receive after registering at the office.
Keep in mind that the digital certificate is not mandatory for the self-employed, but it is necessary to carry out any online procedures before the Spanish Tax Agency (“Hacienda”) and Social Security (“Seguridad Social”).
If you have an electronic ID - “DNI electrónico”:
If you have a “DNI electrónico”, its passwords and a card reader for your computer, you can also carry out this procedure directly on the Real Casa de la Moneda y Timbre website, without having to go to an office.
If you have followed the setup and request steps, you will already have your digital certificate.
