Can I transfer money from my business account to my personal account?
es, as a freelancer with an eenmanszaak in the Netherlands, you can transfer money from your business account to your personal account. This is called a private withdrawal. It’s your business income, so you’re allowed to use it for personal spending.
Is it taxed separately?
No. You don’t pay extra tax when you transfer money to yourself.
As a zzp’er with an eenmanszaak in the Netherlands, your income tax is based on your total business profit (income minus expenses), not on how much you transfer to your personal account.
Do I need to mark or report this transfer?
Since you upload your bank statements, you can’t tag transactions yourself. Just make sure the transfer shows a clear description like “salary”, “withdrawal”, or “privéopname”.
We'll take care of the rest.
What’s the best way to pay myself?
As a zzp’er with an eenmanszaak, you can pay yourself however you prefer; monthly, occasionally, or as needed.
Just keep business and personal spending separate.
Need help setting a rhythm? We’re happy to advise.
Can I pay personal expenses directly from my business account?
Technically yes, but we don’t recommend it.
As a freelancer, it’s best to first transfer funds to your personal account. That keeps your administration and tax reporting clean and compliant.
What if I accidentally use my business account for something personal?
That’s okay, we’ll simply mark it as a private expense (non-deductible).
Try to use clear descriptions in your bank transfers or let us know if something needs explanation.
Can I take out all the money from my business account?
Yes, but as a zzp’er with an eenmanszaak, you're personally responsible for taxes. So make sure you leave enough to cover VAT, income tax, and future business costs.
👍 Rule of thumb: reserve ±30% of your profit + the amount of (received VAT minus paid VAT). That way, you’re covered for both quarterly VAT and your yearly income tax.
Do I need to inform Xolo when I make a withdrawal?
No, as long as it’s shown on your business bank statement, we’ll take care of it. Clear transaction descriptions help us speed up the process.
Can I pay myself a fixed “salary” every month?
Definitely. Even though you’re not officially on payroll as a zzp’er with an eenmanszaak, many freelancers choose to transfer a fixed amount monthly.
We’ll record it as a private withdrawal in your bookkeeping.
