In order to operate as autónomo and pay business-related taxes in Spain, you need a Spanish bank account that supports direct debit. Namely, the applicable taxes are automatically paid via direct debit from your personal account to the Spanish authorities, as long as there are sufficient funds available on your bank account to cover the tax bill.
There are some relevant things to take in mind about payments in Hacienda:
- Bank account must be in the list of collaborating banks with Hacienda.
- *Bank account must accept direct debits. Check with your bank to make sure that the provided account to us is not a savings account that doesn't allow payments or direct debits.
- Bank account must have been opened with your DNI/NIE and not with your passport.
VAT and IRPF taxes (when applicable) are reported and paid on a quarterly basis (April, July, October, January), Social Security fee is paid once a month (there is no tax reporting requirement).
